How to Get Help

If you have a concern about the possibility of having some form of liver disease you should get a blood test to check for liver disease. A local doctor or medical clinic should be able to perform the blood test for you.

If you have liver disease:

  1. You can start by going to your regular doctor and asking them about gastroenterologists or hepatologists in your area. Ideally one that would be in network for your insurance plan. It is important to have a specialist provide care for you if you have liver disease and ideally a hepatologist is best if you are infected with hepatitis.

  2. If you don’t have insurance you can call your county health department and ask about clinics in the county that can help you get help.

  3. You can consider some of the options listed in the “Hepatitis Resources” section of the website. Simply click on that button for information on organizations that can provide assistance to you.
