Join A Support Group
Joining a support group is likely your best way to get help outside of your immediate family, friends, and your doctor. Support groups are helpful in the fact that everyone there is living with similar issues as you are. Hence, they can relate to what you are going through and can share information to help you cope.
The friendships you develop at support groups will help you through the tough times and better enable you to make decisions about how you deal with the disease. Everyone has different experiences and sharing those experiences can be very meaningful and useful in your own fight. Also, discussions about what works and what doesn’t work regarding treatments, dealing with fatigue or depression, dealing with issues at home or on the job, or simply tactics to how to deal with itching, dry skin, and other symptoms of liver disease can be very helpful.
Start out by attending a support group in your area and just observe during your first session. In the near future we will be adding a list of various support groups that are available. If you want to start a support group in your area please click here - “start a support group” - or on the Start A Support Group button on the Home page.
If you have any ideas for support groups please feel free to share it with us and we would be delighted to speak with you about it.
